About Dumpling Wang

The only hand crafted dumpling restaurant in Long Island City.

Dumpling Wang is a shanghainese in Long Island City, New York. It is listed at 42-37 27th St, Long Island City, NY 11101, which places it among the local businesses of Long Island City that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Chinese restaurants in the United States range from steam-table lunch counters to white-tablecloth Cantonese seafood halls, and most fall somewhere in between: a laminated menu, a lunch special board, and combo plates priced a few dollars below the dinner menu. Ordering by number off the menu is normal and speeds things up, especially at takeout counters. Family-style ordering, where a table shares several dishes with rice rather than each person getting an individual entree, is standard at sit-down spots and usually cheaper per person. Many neighborhood restaurants are cash-preferred or charge a small card fee, so it is worth asking or checking the door before you order. Delivery apps cover most areas, but calling the restaurant directly is often faster and avoids the markup.

The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 11 am–10 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. Long Island City is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Long Island City follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We came in one day last week with high expectation given the good reviews online but we were let down! I want to say the food mediocre at best if not below average. We tried a few things and nothing really stands out. Pork Xiao Long Bao tastes okay but the meat texture inside was so mushy/watery. Shiitake Mushroom & Pork Sticky Rice Shaomai was bland, and the Scallion Egg Pancake really oily. Fried Spring Rolls w/ Napa Cabbage & Shredded Pork was fine, and the Shredded Pork & Greens Lo Mein was alright. Although the food came out pretty fast, but the service wasn’t there. I had to ask 3 times, that’s to flag down 3 different servers to finally get our water refill. This place has been opened for a few months now and they should have worked out the kinks and flaws. So disappointed, we will not be back :(

this neighborhood place is warm and intimate. the xiaolongbao steam bun was really good. tried truffle, crab, and regular ones. all juicy and freshly made, not like other places in town. the eel noodle was great and full of flavor. this place you can tell is made by locals who know what they are doing.

XLB here is delicious. It’s soupy, flavorful, and the skin is pretty good, not too thick, not too thin. The noodle dishes here are the other star. I would skip the tofu - not silky enough. Service is good but it can get quite busy so expect longer waits for food and service during weekend brunch.

the xiaolongbao here is so bomb! and i really enjoyed the tomato egg dry noodles. also the prices are super fair - i went with my friend and the total ended up being only $20 per-person INCLUDING tax and tip and we had so much leftovers to take home.

Went today for their soft opening and am impressed by the food and service! Prices were also amazing. Faves were the XLB, dumplings and savory tofu!
